Diabla Spring
15 May, 2025Universal rituals: More light, more color.
Spring is synonymous with light. And light with color, because without it they are not possible. Perhaps also for that reason we associate spring with an explosion of color, beyond the greenness and the flowering that also are the protagonists of this time of year. Without a doubt, more hours of light, which also in spring becomes brighter and more intense, invite the ritual of giving a turn to spaces with tonalities in accordance with the most radiant months of the calendar.
Furthermore, fabrics also inevitably undergo their own review in this season, in favor not only of softer or more vibrant tones, depending on the sensations or the impact sought, but also of lighter and more refreshing textures. How renewing it is to transform environments in spring to adapt them to the months in which it is most enjoyed being outdoors. Diabla is already preparing to address this renewing universal ritual with these proposals.

Making a reading of the tonalities of the environment, especially if it is natural, is the easiest and simplest strategy to get the choice of a color right. Sometimes, we focus on the palette of tonalities of the furniture and accessories harmonizing with each other, and something as basic as the context giving us the key to a high-impact solution is overlooked.
For example, in a lush garden where green dominates, opting for furniture and accessories exclusively in strict white generates a very luminous and striking contrast, as in this Versailles-inspired garden designed with the Grill furniture collection by Mut Design and the Plisy Up floor lamps, designed by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret.
Inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian, the furniture of the Grill collection, based on square-section aluminum rods, evokes in a certain way barbecue grills. A unique design that was a finalist in the 2021 NYCxDESIGN awards in the Outdoor Furniture category.
Its geometric aesthetic perfectly dialogues with the illusory folds of the Plisy Up lampshades, which playfully deceive by imitating indoor textile models, when, in reality, they are pieces of 100% recyclable polyethylene. A rechargeable and portable outdoor lamp that, on the other hand, brings a very elegant touch to an environment. Plisy Up was awarded the 2019 DNA Paris award in the Furniture & Lighting category, and received an honorable mention in 2020 at the European Product Design Awards in the lighting category.

The previous environment is one of those clear examples where less is more. But sometimes certain environments call for a more varied composition, both chromatically and in terms of textures, especially if the starting context is a bit neutral or bland and needs a shot of vitality. Achieving this goal through a varied but at the same time restricted color palette, such as this one in white, pink, sand, green, and yellow, is an option that can work very well.
Here the key lies in the mixture of more graphic fabrics, such as the Colombina model from the Soft Comedia dell’Arte collection, with others that appear solid but, when observed closely, their fine weave is revealed, like the Pink and Beige models from the Warm Recycled Iris collection. All of them have been mixed in this numerous set design made up of the Sail seats by Héctor Serrano, the Lilly armchairs by Democràcia Estudio, and the Costuras poufs by Teresa Sapey + Partners. For greater richness at the fabric level, the outdoor Kilim Diamond by GAN, Diabla‘s sister brand in Gandía Blasco Group, completes the scene. A design by Charlotte Lancelot that not only adds a further texture but also a display of the chromatic composition in a gradient effect.
The Diabla catalog also allows playing with the colors of the structures, in this case pink and sand, applied to the base of the Plisy Up lamp and to the frame with armrests of the Lilly armchairs respectively. On the other hand, the white Gobi planters, designed by Pablo Gironés, introduce small bursts of light to the scene.

On the contrary, if an outdoor space is already very expressive in itself, why not give it even more continuity? In a highly contrasting and chromatically striking environment, every detail must be taken care of even more. Diabla‘s collections allow for infinite combinations between the tonalities of their structures and those of the fabrics to achieve brilliant color duos and a high-impact design, such as this exquisite sand-colored structure of the Lilly seats and the Soft Plain Pink fabric of the upholstered elements.
