“When thinking about the design of an industrial object, especially if it´s furniture, I always reflect more on other uses and habits in everyday life, or on objects of the collective imagination that we live with and that we have affection for.” Alejandra Gandia-Blasco

The charismatic pouf with legs designed by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco continues to reap success, and on this occasion wins the highest awards at the DNA Paris and Archiproducts Design Awards 2022 in the furniture and outdoor categories, respectively.

We are very happy for being recognized at three unmissable events on the world design scene. The DNA Paris and Archiproducts Design Awards 2022 join before the end of the year the NYCxDESIGN Awards 2022 – which last May crowned PATOSO with the award for best design in the Outdoor seating category –

“There has to be irony, both in design and in the objects. I see around me a professional disease of taking everything too seriously. One of my secrets is to joke all the time” Achille Castiglioni

PATOSO, a pouf stuffed with recyclable polystyrene beads turned into a small lounge chair

The pouf with legs PATOSO is Alejandra Gandía-Blasco‘s homage to one of the most renowned masters of industrial design, Achille Castiglioni. Castiglioni’s teachings, which in turn paid homage to Marcel Duchamp’s ready-made objects, resulted in everyday objects reinvented to improve their use, through research and irony. PATOSO is a soft pouf to which, in an unprecedented decision, legs have been added, thus combining an informal character with functionality. This allows you to enjoy this seat in different situations, creating the most original atmospheres.

PATOSO is based on the aesthetics of a beanbag, filled with recyclable polystyrene beads covered with water-repellent fabric. The padding, evenly distributed in three compartments, adapts to the body in a natural way, thus guaranteeing comfort. Inside, it conceals a textured thermo-lacquered aluminum structure, which is revealed in the form of the small tubular legs that raise the pouf off the ground.
