Diabla Spring 2024: Theatrical, colorful and outdoors

21 May, 2024

The freshness and joy of the most vibrant season stays with us all year round through our new outdoor fabrics inspired by the Commedia dell’Arte and its playful characters.

The latest addition to our finishes catalog, a collection of fabrics inspired by the Commedia dell’Arte, connects with the energy and expressiveness of spring. Designed by the Diabla team in collaboration with a musicologist, these fabrics feature a distinctive aesthetic that plays with the geometric and colorful patterns associated with characters like Harlequin, Colombina, Pierrot, Pantalone, Lelio, and Tartaglia, each variation named after one of these iconic figures.

The starring duo of this spring is Colombina with its powdery pink tones and Tartaglia, full of contrasts and green touches. Colombina, lively and flirtatious, and Tartaglia, comedic and daring, formed a classic duo in the Commedia dell’Arte. Their relationship was complex and dynamic, combining elements of attraction, competition, and collaboration.

While retaining their Harlequin essence, the Colombina and Tartaglia fabrics reinvent the classics through a distribution of colors and scales that reflect vitality and strength, adding a touch of theatricality to any indoor or outdoor environment. Through their geometry and vitality, they bridge the playful spirit of Commedia dell’Arte —clever and spontaneous— with the casual and lively ambiance that Diabla designs evoke, catering to both nomadic lifestyles and domestic or contract spaces.

This spring, the most versatile designs take the stage to play their most vibrant role.

Spring emerges as a time of renewal, inviting us to redecorate our indoor and outdoor spaces to embrace the gentle breeze and warm sunlight. Therefore, alongside their striking design, like all fabrics in our catalog, the textiles of the Commedia dell’Arte series offer durability and resistance, making them ideal for outdoor settings during springtime and beyond.

In this setting, MARETA armchair is adorned with the Colombina fabric, transforming it into the ideal piece for crafting cozy, personalized nooks both indoors and outdoors. Beneath the soft, removable upholstery of this plush, chill-out-inspired design lies a filling of polystyrene beads, which can be rearranged and adapted to the body’s shape, ensuring a delightful experience. The bold, linear shapes of this creation by Héctor Serrano contrast with the non-compact nature of its filling, enhancing its graphic appeal with the unmistakable harlequin grid pattern.

While the MARETA armchairs offer unrestricted movement and numerous configuration options due to their remarkable lightness, our PLOID cushions provide an added level of comfort with their generous dimensions. Designed by Romero&Vallejo as part of the furniture collection of the same name, they are available in square and landscape versions, featuring a polyester fiber filling encased in waterproof material, suitable for prolonged outdoor use. Mirroring MARETA, they display their most charismatic side when adorned with one of the Commedia dell’Arte fabrics, Tartaglia.

Why not live in an everlasting spring by mixing colors, shapes, and fabrics to create a lively atmosphere rich in textures?
